Chapter 10

Instead of dropping her son off as planned she'd stayed there and helped them build the enormous snowman, and enjoyed doing it. She'd also participated in the snow games with them and was persuaded to stay for dinner because Hermione insisted. After dinner the two children had gone up to Sophie’s room to play games, leaving her with Hermione in the vast and cozy living room where the housekeeper had brought in tea and biscuits for them to have. Nia sat on one of the silk sofas and stared into the huge fireplace. The place was sumptuous and even though it was elegant—with luxurious carpets and expensive arts on the walls—it felt like a home.

“My son should be back any time now,” Hermione said casually as she sipped her tea.

“I see,” Nia put her cup down carefully and pretended that she wasn't interested in hearing about the woman’s son. “This is such a beautiful home.”

“Which needs a young woman’s touch,” she murmured.

Nia glanced at the woman swiftly, wondering what she was getting at. Before she could say anything they heard voices in the hallway. Nia got to her feet, her heart racing inside her chest as her eyes went to the doorway.

He stood in the doorway, his eyes on her before he looked away and went to greet his mother.

Hermione looked at the two of them and made her excuses. “I'll just go up and see what those children are up to.”

“Please tell Jordan that I'm ready.”

Nia didn't look at him but she was feeling his presence so acutely that she couldn't stop the tremors. “I had no idea you would be here,” he said softly.

“I was just leaving,” she told him coldly.

“I was waiting for you to call on Friday.”

“Oh? Was that why you were seen with that bitch in the photo at the club?” she snapped before she could help herself and almost bit her tongue off as she saw the knowing look on his handsome face. He was wearing a red sweater and a grey dress pants and looked so damned handsome that she wanted to jump him!

“You're jealous.”

“You flatter yourself,” she told him coolly. He started advancing towards her and she had to force herself to stay where she was.

“I missed you,” he murmured as he stood in front of her.

“Stop lying!” Her voice sounded strangled as she ached to believe him, she wanted to believe that he was suffering the way she'd been over the weekend. And she wanted to feel his arms around her, and his lips on hers.

“I don’t lie.” One hand lifted to cup the back of her neck. He did the usual whenever her hair was in a ponytail as it was now; he loosened it and combed his fingers through the thick strands. “Come to my suite with me.”

“No,” she said huskily, desperately wanting to do just that. “Our children—”

“Are busy playing and my mother is watching them. I want to feel you Nia, you denied me on Friday and I want to sink myself deep inside you.
